Smile Confidently with Personalized Veneer Treatment
At Boyd Family Dentistry, we offer custom dental veneers as an effective solution to enhance your smile by covering stains, chips, decay, and other imperfections. Veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells carefully crafted to fit the front surface of your teeth, providing a natural and beautiful appearance.
Our experienced dentists work with skilled dental technicians to create personalized veneers using high-quality materials, ensuring a perfect fit and lasting durability. While veneers require some enamel removal and are considered a permanent cosmetic treatment, they can dramatically improve your smile’s look and boost your confidence.
Compared to dental crowns, porcelain veneers offer a less invasive, more affordable option that still delivers excellent results. Porcelain veneers usually require multiple visits but provide superior color stability and longevity compared to bonding.
If you are interested in exploring veneers in Owasso, OK, contact Boyd Family Dentistry. Our team will help you understand your options and guide you through the process toward a brighter, more confident smile.
What Are Veneers?
What Smile Issues Can Veneers Fix?
- Stubborn staining or discoloration that doesn’t respond to professional whitening
- Minor crowding or misalignment of the front teeth
- Small gaps or spaces between the front teeth
- Chipped or worn edges on teeth
- Teeth that are naturally small, especially lateral incisors next to the front teeth
- Irregularly shaped or misshapen teeth
- Teeth with jagged or uneven edges
How the Veneer Process Works
Because veneers are a significant investment in your smile, the first and most important step is clear communication. Everyone has a unique idea of what a beautiful smile looks like—some may want a flawless “Hollywood” smile with bright, even teeth, while others prefer a more natural appearance that simply enhances their existing smile. That’s why it’s essential to have open conversations with our dentist to ensure the final result aligns with your vision.
In some cases, we may recommend an additional step before starting the veneer procedure, such as a preview or mock-up of the proposed outcome. This allows you to see what your new smile could look like and helps confirm that we’re on the same page before moving forward.
Exploring Veneer Options
The veneer process varies based on your needs. For minimal corrections, ultra-thin porcelain veneers (about the thickness of a contact lens) may be used with little to no tooth preparation. In these cases, the dentist may do minor reshaping and take a scan or mold—no temporaries are needed.
For more significant changes, “traditional” or “full-prep” veneers are used. This involves removing a thin layer of enamel under local anesthetic to make room for the veneers. Because the teeth are more sensitive after prep, temporary veneers are placed to protect them.
After two to three weeks, once the custom porcelain veneers are ready, you’ll return for placement. The dentist will remove the temporaries, clean your teeth, and bond the final veneers—completing your smile transformation.
What To Expect After Getting Veneers?
After getting veneers, some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity, which can last for a few weeks. It’s also common to feel a sense of fullness under the upper lip as you adjust to the new contours of your front teeth.
If there are signs of teeth grinding or clenching at night, we will recommend a custom nightguard to protect your veneers while you sleep.
You shouldn’t notice any significant changes in your bite or speech, but if you do, don’t hesitate to call us for a follow-up visit.
